Sai Yoke Waterfall Kanchanaburi Thailand

Sai yoke waterfall, waterfall national park, Kanchanaburi, Nam Tok Thailand

Sai Yoke Waterfall

and National Park at Kanchanaburi is pretty water game. This Nam Tok (water knock) as it is in Thai language. Also easy to access since the waterfall is just beside the road from Kanchanaburi to the 3 pagoda pass. The ride from Bangkok is only about 3 hours and that means if the weather is fine the sun shines and maybe weekend many people are around..

Some big buses and minibuses are parked and behind the usual souvenir shops is a breathtaking panorama. A beautiful site which should be included in every Bangkok trip, if you wont go there you will miss something.

At this waterfall nobody charges entrance fee since the waterfall is not integrated into the national park which is further up the road.

The waterfall has more or less only 1 quite high level fall as you can see in the pictures looks real pretty and every day lots of people from the area around and from Bangkok enjoy the time. The basin is quite large which is a ideal place for swimming, in particular during hot summer time from April to June.

Before the waterfall is a marvelous spirit house, with incense burning plus a old locomotive aside the old railway station, that was part of the original "dead railway" built during world war II. The dark blue River Kwai behind the opposite side of the road is one of the most famous river in Thailand. The movie "River Kwai Bridge" from David Lean made this place famous, more of the bridge and the history of the River Kwai bridge is here. This area in Kanchanaburi province is about outdoor fun in Thailand.

There is trekking and rafting on and along the river are hotels and resorts..

The Waterfall is

just a few km outside of Kanchanaburi town is somehow a different waterfall since most of the water runs down the blank limestone and only a part falls. This gives a unique appearance.

Together with the River Kwai just beside, actually behind  the other side of the road, its a great outdoor waterfall experience. Plenty of  bungalow cluster, guesthouses, hotels and river resorts along the River Kwai invite to stay, with huge Bangkok so near and such a great location good business is almost automatically. The buses from Bangkok come in by the dozen, plenty of Thai tourists enjoy a swim in the basin of the waterfall. Most women splash into the water with the cloth on, its not usual in Thailand to show to much.

Erawan waterfall

is a couple of kilometers down the road one of the absolute highlights for every visitor to Thailand and naturally to the local Thai. The whole area around Kanchanaburi and along the road to the the Three Pagoda Pass" at the border Myanmar Thailand is great nature one of the best outdoor destinations in he country.

Also the Tiger Temple

is here and several marvelous shrines and Buddhist temples plus monasteries. The weather is quite good all over the year and no need for a travel guide, everything is open here in Kanchanaburi. Only the entry fee to the Erawan falls are a little bit  strange, it Baht 200,- per foreigner, Thais pay Baht 50,-.Hills opposite sai yoke waterfall
