Sai Yoke
Waterfall and National Park a few km from Kanchanaburi is
quite pretty.
|
Also easy to
access since the Sai Yoke noi waterfall is just beside
the road from Kanchanaburi to the 3 pagoda pass.
The ride from
Bangkok is only about 3 hours and that means if the
weather is fine the sun out and maybe weekend many weekender
are around..
Some big buses and minibuses are around all the time
and behind the usual souvenir shops is a breathtaking
panorama. A beautiful site which should be included in every
Bangkok trip, if you wont go there you will miss
something.
At this waterfall nobody charges entrance fee since the
waterfall is not |
 |
integrated into
the Sai Yoke national park,
the Sai Yoke NP is further up the road.
The waterfall has more or less only 1 quite high
level and looks real pretty.Beside the waterfall is a marvelous spirit house, with
incense burning plus a old locomotive beside the old railway
station.
That was part of the original "dead railway" built during
world war II.
Trekking and rafting is offered by some travel agents and in
the hotels
and resorts along the River Kwai. |

The Sai
Yoke Waterfall just a few km outside of Kanchanaburi
town
is somehow a
different waterfall since most of the water runs
down the blank limestone and only a part falls. This
gives the Sai Yoke Waterfall in Kanchanaburi
Thailand its unique appearance.
Together with the
River Kwai just beside, actually behind
the other side of the road, its a great outdoor
waterfall experience.
Plenty of
bungalow cluster, guesthouses, hotels and river
resorts along the River Kwai invite to stay, with
huge Bangkok so near and such a great location good
business is almost automatically.
The buses from
Bangkok come in by the dozen, plenty of Thai
tourists enjoy a swim in the basin of Say Yoke
Waterfall. Most women splash into the water with the
cloth on, its not usual in Thailand to show to much.
Another sightseeing
spot on the road out of Kanchanaburi to the Say Yoke
Waterfall is for sure the bridge over the River
Kwai, thousands of foreigners and Thai travel there
every year to have a look.
A couple of
kilometers off Say Yoke Waterfall is the Erawan
Waterfall, one of the absolute highlights for
every visitor to Thailand and naturally to the local
Thai.
The weather is quite
good all over the year and no need for a travel
guide, everything is open here in Kanchanaburi.
Only the entry fee to
the Erawan falls are a little bit to high, it
Baht 400,- per foreigner, Thais pay Baht 50,-. |
