At Laguna are

Several tin mines have been operating there in the
past and after the tin mines got exhausted the
decision was made to fill up the mines with water,
call it Laguna and develop the area as a Thailand
luxury destination. Aside of the lagoons is Bangtao
Beach which give a perfect vacation setting. At the circle
around the Heroines’ Monument (of the two brave ladies who
were leading the defense of against the invading
Burmese army a few hundred years ago) is a right turn
to Phuket Laguna beach resorts, villas and
Bangtao
Beach.
Laguna
is an attractive assembly of up market luxury hotels and villas,
about 20 kilometers from the city or
Patong Beach,
its about 30km to the southern tip at Cap Panwa
and
Rawai. The
route to
the city (via the
bypass road)
leads directly to the shopping mall strip on the west
outskirts of the town centre, around the city are no beaches.
Every Phuket
beach
has a different characteristic, there
are the small beaches such as Laem Sung Beach between Surin
and Kamala Beach. There are the around 1 km beaches
such as Karon Beach and Patong Beach and the other beaches
north of Nay Yang Beach which are several km long this are

tourists but unfortunately the 2 leg elephant master
try to squeeze out money from the foreigner real
badly, better think 3 times before you climb on the
back of the poor elephant in Phuket Thailand.
Famous
Phuket nightlife and excellent hotels for every
size of wallet are just around the corner;
Thai girls (and the ones who look
like a girl but are not and because of this they are
called ladyboys) are also trying to make you
happy wont matter if you are a guy or a girl,
Thai people are flexible and
Phuket girls are
real great.
You probably come to the island for a beautiful tropical
beach with clean turquoise or emerald waters on one of the islands around.

about 200 meter before the Chalong circle
when you come from Phuket City. Below is a
huge
lobster, some different crabs and a splendid fish, just taken

waterfront at
Chalong Bay, the branch road to

food plus the catch of the day. Very
popular Thai dishes are based on noodles and
naturally seafood. Usually Thai restaurants offer
the same food either with noodles or with rice. This
again has variants, e.g. there are the spaghetti
types of noodles and very popular are the so called
glass noodles, very fine noodles also used in some
seafood salads, called in Thai “jam bunsen”.
Rice comes as boiled
rice, fried rice and some other variants.
Potatoes are not usual in Thai food servings except

are always between Baht 80,- and
Baht 120,- for a small Heineken beer
in the bottle.

Shops for tailor made clothes are plenty,
you will stumble into one every 100
meter at the main tourist area, but
be aware they might be cheap, so is
the stuff you get in returns. All
this tailor made shops are run by
guys of Indian origin, some also
Nepali and Bangladeshi.
If you order something, they
give all details to some Thai people
who do the actual tailor work
elsewhere, many time the
communication over this 3
corners wont work and junk is the
result, be very careful. I know this
because I tried it and junk was what
I got, don't let your lure into a
buying atmosphere, the guys are very
clever to give you a good feeling,
but this are not more than sales
tricks. There are also plenty of

shopping malls at bypass

Going shopping
is a subject in 3
variants. At the tourist
centers on the west coast are
myriads of shops all selling
the same stuff. Like cheap
fashion cloth, shoes,
handbags, plastic ware and
tailor made clothing, the
subject of bootleg movies and software
plus fake designer
clothing is somehow under control. Its seen very seldom
this days -2011-.
Some are still selling copy
DVD movies and software but
only in the backroom
somewhere, it didn't
disappear completely but
almost. Also the shops with
all the copy watches became
less. Instead there are
plenty of shops with nice
watches with fantasy names.
Over the last few years however, a number of large shopping
malls have opened where many international
retailers, unique local local shops plus international
restaurant outlets such as Burger King, MacDonald's, Kentucky Fried
Chicken, Pizza Hut etc.. but
however it is turned the
most exiting shopping is
still at the night
markets. Another shopping mall has
opened at Patong
some time ago called Jung
Ceylon, its the
biggest shopping mall on
the west coast with more
than 200 shops, supermarkets
and restaurants.

In the center of Jungceylon shopping mall at
Patong is a open area
with water shows, sometimes
concerts and a a sailing
ship at
about original size. It's a
nice place to go with the
children, there is always
some action.

malls around the same area

shopping malls, they open
another one every 3 month,
traffic congestion is heavy and get

lay down at almost any beach you will be approached
