Cash is all about what's on in Patong. Every square meter on
the pavement or elsewhere is used for all kind of junk they
try to sell to the tourist. There is fake designer cloth,
cheap other textiles, fake Nike shoes who are sometimes even
better than the original. Indian, Bangladeshi and Nepali
tailors try to sell their inferior textile stuff, the only
function as a front end, the actual work is done by Thais
elsewhere.
Some hotels, resorts and other accommodation are in very
noise areas, if you done like noise make sure to book the
right place and if you have any serious problems don't be
shy to contact the police, they have special Tourist Police
units and they really try to help.
On the
opposite side of Patong Beach road are
myriads of restaurants,
shops, hotels and
some
Patong resort & spa.
Among the restaurants Thai
restaurants are in the majority naturally, but also
all kind of fast food of the
McDonald type, plus textile and
cloth shops.
Other shops selling
CD's, DVD's dirt cheap and all kind
of
fake Nike and other brands shoes and
hand bags. Copy watches of Rolex on
other brands imported from China are
offered on every "second" corner.
Patong is hard to beat in terms
of the diversity of restaurants and
food offered practically at almost
every corner.
There are restaurants of any
kind. Thai, Japanese, Chinese,
French, Italian, Arab, Russian,
German, Austrian, Burger,
Vegetarian, Indian, Steak, Barbecue,
Seafood, Pizza,
There are also quiet parts at
Patong Beach, in particular at
the south end, where longtail boats
are parked waiting for some
tourists.
Patong bar, pub, girl and disco nightlife is legend, its
great but be aware there are plenty of very drunken guys
around in the evening. But Patong night life is quite ok in
general, even at nightlife bars full of nightlife girls they
wont cheat you, just be careful and never put any money in
the shirt pocket, there are always some around who try to
pick it out. Patong beach nightlife is also full with
restaurants of every imaginable type and not only in Patong
city but almost everywhere.
The center of
Patong (video) nightlife is Bangla Road,
at
daytime full of delivery trucks, comes to life
after 8 pm. Patong bars, go go
nightclubs, open air bars along the road and the
alleys branching off Bangla Road.
Every evening
probably around 5.000 ladies and young guys
from all over Thailand over their services to
thousands of tourists from all over the world.
Dozens of
mini-skirted ladies parade along Bangla Road,
Patong's main fun zone. Some "farang"
have a little flirt with them, sometimes
followed by action in one of the many cheap
hotels behind the eastern end of Bangla Road.

The bars pumping obscure and well-known songs
through their speakers,
the problem is, every bar do their own music which
quickly become a acoustic disaster, sometimes it
needs some earplugs,
many people
don't know when enough is enough.
A little bit
further into the concrete and makeshift shelter
from wood, plastic and metal sheets, jungle are
plenty of other bars and noodle stalls.
In between are
jewelry shops, bookshops and some Thai guys
who try to place some strange creatures of the
small dragon type on your shoulder, make a photo
and give some money is their message.
At about 3 pm the
first guys with the red skin already hang around
in the small bars along Bangla Road and get
their first beers uploaded, the TV screams,
the DVD bang out the latest English songs and
also the first girls move in on a early hunt
for "farangs", most of the Thai ladies are
here for business.
Maybe you like a
lift with a parachute via pulling with the
speedboat, do a ride with the jet ski, this
is regulated and limited now after plenty of
terrible accidents happen, of the type run over
the head etc. and nobody claims the body
afterwards.
Just below the
horizon of Patong Beach is a huge cruise ship,
some sail boats are already around and some
people swim and snorkel.
At about
lunchtime at Patong Beach all good
deckchairs are rented out for the day and the
sun does the job. Beach massage is very
popular among the tourists relaxing
on the beach.
Almost all Patong
massage ladies are from somewhere in
northern Thailand. Tough fat middle
aged women with a strong and steady
grip. They treat you for an hour,
after you need 2 hour to relax from
the massage.
Small Thai travel agent
offices are around everywhere in Patong to offer
daytrips for diving and snorkeling plus live
aboard excursions into the island world of the
Andaman Sea, mainly north of Phuket at
places like the Similan Archipelago, Surin
Islands or even further north into the Mergui
Archipelago in Myanmar or Burma.
A daytrip out of
Patong could be done to coral island and the
other small Island around Phuket. Patong Soi
